LISA'S LASIK

May 7, 2004 - Lisa went back for an 'enhancement.' The procedure took less that a minute, but we were there for about 4 hours. Once the procedure was done, Lisa had her vision restored in the right eye. She had to wear the patch over one eye for the day and at night for one week. She is very satisfied with the proceedure!

Lisa experience vision problems with one eye. She had made one additional visit and the readings were normal. They had set her up on monovision, which lets one eye do the distance work and the other do the close up work. They felt it may take a while for her eyes to adjust. She made another visit and the person who examined her eyes indicated they may have been 'over-corrected'. She has another appointment on March 23rd and will probably have to have an 'enhancement'.

First thing the next morning Lisa checked out her vision and was pleased with the preliminary results. We went back to the doctor later in the morning to get Lisa's eyes checked and they were fine. We also got the copy of the CD. We reviewed it and while it was cut a little short, it was what I had seen live.

Lisa slept most of the afternoon, getting up periodically to get a drink of water. By 9:30pm - Lisa was up and feeling OK and was still wearing the protective eye covers. She had tested her vision and acknowledged she could see.

1:00pm - While waiting to go into the surgery, Lisa was given a pain pill. Although we were there over an hour, the surgery took about 10 minutes. Lisa came out wearing protective eye covers. She was able to see a few things through the eye covers, which was an improvement over her vision without glasses before the surgery. On the way home, she fell asleep.

I actually watched the procedure live while the surgery was happening. It was a little disturbing in that it seemed like there was excessive pressure put on her left (I think) eye. And there was some bleeding. I watched 2 other procedures before Lisa's and they went smooth. I wanted to review the CD. They make a CD of the procedure, but there was a problem, so we left without it.

Noon - Lisa was very optimistic going into the LASIK procedure. She read up on the subject and visited many web sites, including the manufacturer of the Bausch & Lomb Zyoptix™ system that Dr. Glenn Kawish uses.
